Much wisdom can be gained from the David Brainerd biography, “The Life and Diary of David Brainerd.” Though his ministry was cut short by illness, Brainerd had his heart set on preaching Christ where He has not been preached. This is why he rejected invitations to join sound Christian ministries in pale-face populated areas such as Millington, Connecticut and Easthampton, Long Island. Brainerd continued his work among the natives and, in three short years, is said to have baptized seventy-seven individuals. Though short, the life of David Brainerd has inspired many to, in his own words, “live lives of fervent prayer, genuine piety and holy passion for souls.”
